Unshakable

God did not deny what we did to Him. He worked through it. He named it. He expressed his feelings about it. He cried and He was angry…and then He let it go. Nothing is wrong with wanting things to be resolved, but resolve will come only one way–with grace and forgiveness. The wrong can never be undone. But it can be forgiven and thereby rendered powerless. –Boundaries, Cloud and Townsend

The more I learn and grow…and get old…lol…I realize that God desires us, I believe, to go through this world unaffected personally by other’s negativity, sin, anger, moods, thoughtlessness, etc. –by that I mean that their actions if characterized by the afore mentioned, do not rock us, do not move us, do not condemn us, do not HINDER us (Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, Heb 12:1). We are to accept that we are all flawed sinners and keep our eyes on Jesus and His purpose for our life. We treat others the way we do because of who WE ARE, because of who we choose to be and the same is true of how others treat us, it’s not nearly as personal as we often make it, it’s often only personal in the sense that it’s about our own behavior and choices, not anyone or anything else. Saying this, I do not mean that we turn our eyes from evil and passively do nothing in cases of things like child abuse, human trafficking, etc. I am talking on a personal level. When our feelings are hurt, when we are disappointed with someone, when we wonder how can they do that “to me”…we are entangled, we have bought into the lie of the enemy that our offender somehow has the power to validate us, to make us “worth” something, to make us important, etc. because of how they treat us or value us. The only one with that kind of power and Authority is our Heavenly Father. We have got to keep our eyes on Him and know who we are and Whose we are and not be shaken or sidetracked by the enemy’s schemes. I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Psalm 16:8 Grace and forgiveness must be extended to everyone, EVERYONE as Christ has extended it to us. (But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. Matt 6:15)
