in security

We wear it like a tattoo on our forehead and somehow, we are often the last to know.  It comes in various forms and degrees, crippling those in its path. Maybe more common in women but definitely present among men and even precious children.

We try to compensate by decorating the outside, striving to be perfect or be everything to everyone, seeking validation and admiration.

Or maybe we travel the opposite direction and are a bottomless pit of “needy”.  Maybe we are anxious to control, to keep everything just as we think it should be due to fear of –well, fear if it’s not.

We can be extreme, tolerating pretty much any behavior from others motivated by a desperation to be loved and accepted or we can make it nearly impossible for others to love us. Uncooperative, judgmental, uninterested, even rude to make sure we keep others at a distance ensuring no risk of rejection, no risk of hurt, no risk of being disappointed.

Oddly enough, this plague named insecurity covers a wide spectrum of beliefs and behaviors.  No matter how each of us adorn the lies, they keep us in chains.

Knowing our true identity is the only remedy to break this bondage.  Love defined us long before we took our first breath. It has little to do with anything in and of ourselves and everything to do with Who we belong to.  Our role in breaking free is for us to believe God’s definition of who we are. We don’t need confirmation from anyone, we just have to allow our Creator to have the final say. That one choice, one single choice–to believe Him…changes everything. We will transition from being insecure to resting in the security of Christ.

Don’t be afraid, I’ve redeemed you.

I’ve called your name. You are mine.

This is all so true Marla. Thank you so much. These reminders are good to help me get, or stay, on track and to listen to the voice of the One who created every cell in our bodies to be courageous and trusting. Insecurity is so real and it’s a trick of the enemy to attempt to steal it all away.
