Can we just take some time to dispel the lie that broken is bad?? That it’s shameful or unattractive or somehow discounting?? That we need to retreat, hide and cover with pretense???
The truth is we need to be broken. We need to fall from our high horse, from our pedestals, from our posing. We need to be made aware, if we are not already-the deception we perpetuate, mostly to ourselves.
We need to shatter, to bust, to break completely open. We need to divide into a million pieces so we can sort out who we really are. We need to pick up each sliver, each shard, each fragment and carefully examine. Is this true? Is this a lie that I have immersed into my soul as truth? Is this a wound covered with a bandage that has never healed? Is that trauma I pushed down and tried desperately to forget? Are these labels really who I am? Most importantly—does this align with God’s Word and who He says I am?
This will not necessarily be a pleasant sorting…there are times it will be extremely painful, times it will be more ugly than we can imagine and times of great peace when we are able to toss a bit away releasing ourselves to freedom.
Christ was broken…for us. His broken body hung on a cross for each one of us so we could know the truth of who we are. We will never have freedom until we are able to spill out the falsities we harbor, especially regarding our identity.
We need to be broken. Need : required or essential for…guess what?? More. More truth, more peace, more faith, more freedom, more of Him and less of us.

Marla,
I think that broken is a label that man places on another man. God brings us to a point where we need him more than the air we breath. He corrects us when needed. But he Loves us no matter what.
